  • Our Baristas are often our customers’ first in-person connection to Bonhomie Coffee.

    We’re always looking for bon moun to join our team: lovers of coffee and culture, people-first folks who enjoy engaging with the community, diverse thinkers who can make everyone feel seen and welcome, even via a brief engagement. Barista experience is a plus!

    Our baristas support our permanent residencies, pop-ups, and private events. The ideal candidates are agile, creative, and have great communication skills. They also have a willingness to learn about and share info about Haiti, Haitian coffee, and our Haitian inspired flavors.

    • Starting pay for experienced baristas who meet all required AND preferred qualifications is $25/hr. New baristas start between $21.30-$24/hr. We do not accept tip.

    • Demonstrate interest in coffee and a willingness to learn about Haiti and Haitian coffee

    • A positive attitude and an interest in hospitality.

    • Ability to follow procedures consistently to uphold quality standards in a fast-paced environment

    • Must have at least three(3) days of availability per week

    • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively

    • Valid food handlers permit

    • Experience and proficiency with standard specialty coffee espresso preparation 

    • Strong customer service skills with the ability to provide a personalized experience to each customer.

    •  Flexibility to work weekdays, evenings, and weekends at various locations

  • CAFE BARISTA CONSIDERATIONS

    • Demonstrate punctuality and handle situations with grace 

    • Engage with customers in a friendly and approachable manner, creating a welcoming and comfortable environment.

    • Open/close the coffee bar independently and perform side work as needed

    • Operate coffee equipment such as espresso machines, grinders, and brewers, ensuring they are clean and properly maintained

    • Make tasty and consistent espresso, cold brew, and matcha drinks. We don’t do too much because we want it just right

    • Adapt to location needs - sometimes, you have to “degaje 

      Maintain a clean and organized coffee bar and respect the space of our residency host

    • Communicate early and often with your management and your team

    • Restock supplies and ingredients and communicate any needs to cafe coordinator

    • Maintain good personal hygiene to ensure a positive work environment for team members, pleasant customer experience, proper food handling, and maintained food safety standards to prevent the spread of infections or foodborne illnesses 

    ADDITIONAL EVENT BARISTA CONSIDERATIONS

    • Safely transport and set up mobile espresso cart at events

    • Adapt to client and event needs as required - again, sometimes, you have to “degaje 

    • Clean up/breakdown cart and return items for cleaning

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • Required to stand and walk for extended periods

    • Frequently required to lift, bend, stoop, or kneel

    • Must lift and move more than 50 pounds, like large ice chests and La Marzocco Minis
